MY Mission: WHAT & WHy
Kate Howard |
When I moved from Massachusetts to Georgia for college, I was expecting to be in the midst of southern culture. My brain had conjured up the possibility that I would have professors with southern accents, eat deep fried chicken and grits on a daily basis, and country music would fill the air with melodies as my friends and I walked across campus. So far, not one of my professors has southern accent, the only chicken I have had here was grilled, and I hear more pop music in the hallways than anything else. Do not get me wrong, I love Emory, but I still want to find that "Southern Comfort Zone" Brad Paisley keeps singing about on the country music station. During these upcoming weeks, I will write about my quest for the "true" south, southern artifacts, and interviews, in addition to addressing various topics surrounding southern culture.
